We, the members of the Genesee Lutheran Parish, in receiving God’s gracious gifts, are committed to be living examples of Jesus’ love by strengthening and encouraging each other. We commit to love every person and serve anyone we can through word and deed, following the example of our Lord.

Ash Wednesday and Lent

Not everyone observes Ash Wednesday in the same way we Lutherans have so I thought sharing this might help those of us that were not raised Lutherans and I have a feeling it can help those who were raised Lutheran. Too often it is too easy to forget why we observe the seasons.

During Lent one of the things I am going to be doing is sending a daily Reading that is suggested reading by the ELCA. These readings should help us each reflect on things in our lives or how we are leading our lives or things we should be doing. It was the thought of the Lent Committee that rather than giving up something that really isn't going to mean a lot in the end maybe some reflection of ourselves might be a good way to go this year. Hopefully with this as a tool and the readings you will grow on this spiritual journey we take during Lent.
