Calling Committee Meeting

Members Attending	Patrick Adams, Rosanna Cartwright, Linda Chilson, Verna Studer, and Mark Stutzman
Members Absent	Jennifer Parkins (she gave Rosanna her input prior to meeting)
Call to Order	The meeting was called to order Monday, November 21, 2016, at 7 p.m.
OPENING Prayer	Rosanna shared several Bible verses that used the term “call” and led the group in prayer.
Old Business
“A Theology of Call”	Discuss 5 questions on p. 2 of A Theology of Call. The members shared their responses to the questions; the discussion lay a nice foundation for getting started on the process.
the “Guidelines for the Call Process, Eastern Washington-Idaho Synod, approved by Synod Council 10-9-98”	Highlight what we have done and what we will do (not every congregation does everything). The group determined that we are at Nos. 8 and 9 in the Call Processs ·         No. 4 must still be completed by Council  ·         Patrick will send us a copy of the Letter to the Bishop (No. 2) ·         No. 6 mentioned the congregation’s constitution, which it does not have yet.
Ministry Site Profile	Discuss what this MSP site is:  digital not paper.  The group began completing the Ministry Site profile: Part 1 “Who We Are” pg 1 - 2 of 11; the group understands that much of the first two pages can be completed by the Council.  The group also understands better why the Synod had expected data results to make decisions and discussed how to get the information that was not officially collected. Rosanna reminded the group that references will be collected from a number of sources, including an Outside Congregation or Organization.  The members reflected on the advantage to learning how others view the work of Genesee Lutheran Parish. The members began discussing where they can find information for p. 3, No. 5:  Trends in the community Context of the Congregation or Organization:  Characteristics.
New Business
Plan for Next Meeting:	The Call Committee will continue discussing p. 3, No. 5:  Trends in the community Context of the Congregation or Organization:  Characteristics.  Information will be gathered from online Demographic ZIP Code report, the local school information, and even Wikipedia.  Then they will continue in the “Trends section.”
LORD’S PRAYER	The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
Adjournment:	The meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m.  The next meeting will be December 3, 2016, from 3 – 4 p.m.
